Strong citrus up front and piney on the back. The head is not going away which is nice. Not as boozy as you’d think. Overall a good drink!

@greatdividebrew Belgian Style “Yeti” Russian Imperial Stout - 9.5% abv #craftbeer

I promised myself I’d get back to posting here more often. It’s not like I’ve stopped taking pictures of beer from my phone. And I definitely haven’t stopped drinking them. So, while I’ve got some back brews to get to at some point I’ll start with what I’m having right now.

It pours and smells just like a regular Yeti or RIP. I was expecting more carbonation but so far no trace of the Belgian namesake. Smells of salty chocolate and coffee.

Interesting flow of tastes. I’d say Belgian->Stout->Belgian->Roasted Oak->Espresso. Tastes of chocolate and Belgian yeasts. The carbonation from the yeast makes this a light imperial stout for sure.

While I’ll tend to lean towards the traditional yeti this is a great change of pace.

Terrapin “Moo-Hoo” Chocolate Milk Stout - 6% abv - #craftbeer - Jake’s porch
It’s always a good time for chocolate milk. This ones a bit thin for my liking, probably needs to sit for awhile. Not boozy at all but at 6% it’s not a “large” beer. Will...

I’ve never been one for patience. This was just bottled last month but I couldn’t wait before opening. Good thing I’ve got another I can cellar and let mature. This tastes a bit young but I’m still not regretting the decision. Delicious.

It smells of dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and roasted grain/wood. I wish it were much colder and there was a fire going. Even young, it’s smooth and the taste is majority chocolate/bourbon/vanilla. I’ll definitely save the other bottle, look for more and definitely replenish next year. Grab some if you can.

@OdellBrewing “Myrcenary” Double IPA - 9.3% abv #craftbeer #beerbag

So I was recently in Colorado for work and decided it was a great opportunity to come home with some beer I can’t get at home. Luckily I packed light for the trip and even luckilyer Southwest let my bag fly free and treated it right.

I only grabbed 2 of these and I wish I would’ve bought a 2nd bag filled with bubble wrap now. This is the beer I expected Hopslam to be this year. A strong grapefruit hops doesn’t overwhelm but lets itself be known. Very smooth and juicy, just like a DIPA should be in my book.

So far, #beerbag is living up to the trouble it was to check my bag. I’ve got some well known hitters as well that will be coming up at later dates.

A double “imperial” red. A style I’m really liking. A dark red pour, very dark. A very floral smell. The taste weaves in and out with bitter and sweet as the hops and malt fight this one out. It doesn’t really matter who wins. Great beer. Wish I would’ve bought more than one. Early enough to fix that one probably.

Another installment of the sour series from New Belgium. This one is of the dark variety but it can’t hide from its sour roots. 80% stout and 20% sour…much like the other ‘Lips’ offerings, a great start into the sour world. I love it, of course.

Southern Tier @stbcbeer “Pumking” Imperial Ale - 8.6% abv #craftbeer

“Sour is the new hoppy” is what I’ve been hearing. And by that, I mean I’ve heard it from one person, Chris Powers. But, I’m finally on board. I’m a big fan of the wild/sour genre. Problem is I can’t find much of it in VA. So, I’ll get into the genre as slowly as the distribution dictates and I’ll continue to take what I can get.
